The Oregon Department of Transportation has 40 construction projects scheduled on metro area highways this summer. ODOT Region 1 Manager Jason Tell says the biggest project of the season is on the Banfield Freeway. For the first time in 11 years, it will be completely re-paved between I-5 and I-205, requiring full closures in one direction at a time on three weekends. Get full details HERE.
Eastbound lanes will be closed the weekend of July 12-15, the westbound lanes July 19-22, and the eastbound lanes again from August 3-5.
Other projects include:
- Interstate-205: A project will modify freeway on-ramps to improve traffic flow at Airport Way. It will require occasional day and nighttime lane closures, along with partial ram closures.
- Interstate-84: Work continues on replacement of two bridges at the Sandy River. Expect occasional night lane closures.
- St. Johns Bridge: Expect full night bridge closures from 8 p.m- 5 a.m. July 29 to August 18. Crews will re-tension maintenance cables and replace retainer pins on the seismic dampeners.
- Interstate-5: Work continues on replacement of twin viaducts over a ravine at SW Iowa Street. Expect occasional night and weekend lane closures, and shifting lanes.
ODOT reminds drivers to check www.TripCheck.com for construction updates and trip planning, and to slow down in construction zones.
